The city of Belle Fourche SD is in the exact middle of the USA. There is a monument marking the spot.
Belle Fourche Country Club is a 9-hole golf course that is the closest golf course to the center of the USA. It is a par 36 course featuring 3,257 yards of challenging play with gorgeous scenery.
Playing this course was extra special for me because now I have played the Northernmost, Southernmost, and Centermost golf courses in the USA.

First Impressions:
Just being here at the centermost golf course in the USA is impressive. This 9-hole golf course offers all you would expect for a fun day of golf. It is well maintained, the scenery is awesome, the people are great, but you just need to deal with a few turkeys here and there. I mean Turkeys latterly because they are all over the golf course. If you’re in the area you must check this out. You won’t be disappointed.
About the course:
This course opened in 1935. It’s a Semi-Private golf club that has something for everyone, with narrow fairways and small greens to test best ball strikers. It has some of the best turf conditions in the Black Hills and you will not be disappointed in your round. I like that it starts out with 422 yards par 5 (from the white tee box) on hole #1.
About Our Game:
When I checked in at the club house there was no one to be paired up with me. I was getting ready to go out on my own when I was approached by a couple that asked me if I was the guy golfing the USA. They just checked in behind me and asked me if I would like to join them. I was delighted to meet Linda & Rod. It turned out to be perfect because Linda and Rod are a retired couple and use to do something similar. They traveled around and rode bikes on long distance road trips.
On the par 3 hole #2 it is an elevated tee box with a nice view of the green below. Linda hit the best tee shot of the three of us. On hole #5 Rod got the honor of making the first par after making a great chip shot up on to the green. On hole #7 (par 5) I made a long putt for par. On #8 we were all putting for par and all made bogie. Then on #9 Linda out-drove me and Rod for the 2nd time. However, I was the only one to make par on #9. We kept up with each other most of the time and overall, we had a great time.
Results:
Londa 0-Par 0-birdie
Rod 1-Par 0-birdie
Tony 3-Par 1-birdie
My Favorite Hole:
My favorite hole was #7. Simply because it’s a par 5 that I made par on the first round of 9 and them made birdie and the 2nd time around
My thanks to Linda & Rod for a great day out on a beautiful golf course on a beautiful day in the center of the USA.
