Key West Golf Club is the southernmost golf course in the USA. Hole #8 is the southernmost golf hole in the USA and T-box #14 is the southernmost T-box in the USA.
I think November is probably one of the best months of the year to play here because it was 77 degrees that felt more like 85-90 with the humidity. I can only imagine what it feels like in the hottest month of the year. The course is beautiful and has iguanas, chickens, and turtles everywhere. It is the only golf course in Key West (except for one 9-hole course on a military base) so I played this one twice. This is an 18-hole golf course that does not accept reservations for 9 holes only, so I played the full 36 holes here back-to-back.

First Impressions:
The club house offers everything you could expect, and the restaurant is big with a nice-looking covered porch that has outdoor seating overlooking the putting practice area. At hole #8 you can call ahead to order food, and it will be ready to pick up as you come around to play hole #10. The staff are very helpful and will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a great experience. I met Justin Smoot and Colin Fries; both are assistant golf professionals. They set me up to play with 3 other golfers but one (Mike) dropped out after the 3rd hole.
About the course:
The course is beautiful anywhere you look, and it is very well maintained. There are plenty of water and sand traps to challenge your skills and I was challenged by a few of those bunkers. I managed to avoid the water and finished the game with only one ball lost in a wooded area. The putting practice area is great, but the driving range is not full length. This is one of the highest priced courses I have played so far but considering the beauty of it all and the overall atmosphere of Key West Florida, I consider it worthwhile.
About Our Game:
I arrived early to have time to check things out before my T-time. I was teamed up with 3 other golfers and we met up in the club house for introductions.
Ben
Karen
Mike
Mike and Karen are celebrating their 25th year of marriage. Ben is out golfing while his wife is back at the hotel enjoying the pool. Mike decided to drop out after the 3rd hole because he was a bit frustrated with his ball striking and did not want to hold up the pace of play. Karen, Ben, and I played on, and Mike mostly rode along and helped us all out with ball locating. I kept track of pars and birdies for all and full score for me.
Results:
Ben 1-Par 0-birdie
Tony 3-Par 0-birdie
Karen 0-Par 0-birdie
Mike withdrawal
There were no birdies scored by any of us and I won the par contest with 3 pars. Although Karen did not score any pars she played well and hit some impressive T-shots. Everyone was fun to play with, and we all had a great day.
My Favorite Hole:
I will claim hole #8 (par 3) as my favorite hole. It was a horrible score since I got a triple bogie (6), but I enjoyed the challenge. Standing at the T-box looking over a field of mangroves and having to clear it all with no room for error got me a bit nervous. I made it over ok and overshot the green to land in the back bunker. It was downhill from there.
