First Impressions:
When I drove into the parking area of this course, I was immediately impressed with the looks of the club house. Just the sight of that big, beautiful South Carolina style building says this is going to be a pretty and well-maintained course. The club house offers everything you can expect, and the restaurant has good food and plenty of space to hang out.
About the course:
When I checked in there were some errors or miscommunications about my plan. However, the staff (Tricia & Will) did everything they could to help make it work. Unfortunately, I was unable to get teamed up with any other senior golfers, but I was able to get teamed up with another younger single guy.
I met up with Chris, and we went over to the driving range to make some practice swings. I could tell from the driving range that the course is in good shape, and this was going to be a delightful round of golf. What I didn’t know but probably should have expected was that there were alligators and snakes out there. There are signs posted to warn me about this and is very good advice. I figured I wouldn’t be making many efforts to search for any lost balls here. See pictures posted.
About Our Game:
I met up with Chris, and he was ok with my plan about blogging this game. Chris is a sportswriter for some local sports teams and considers himself to be an average amateur golfer. I figured that means we are both at about the same skill level.
As we went about playing our game, I noticed how we hit a lot of our shots close to each other. At hole #9 we got on the green in regulation and both of us made par. At hole #16 our tee shots were close together then the second shots were also close together, then we had our putts near each other and both missed par.
Results:
Chris 5-Par 1-birdie
Tony 6-Par 0-birdie
We both played a good game and the whole day was very enjoyable.
My Favorite Hole:
I think my favorite hole I played was hole #9. It was a long 344-yard par 4. Chris and I both made par.
