Key West Golf Club is the southernmost golf course in the USA. Hole #8 is the southernmost golf hole in the USA and T-box #14 is the southernmost T-box in the USA.
I think November is probably one of the best months of the year to play here. I played here yesterday, and the temperature was 77 degrees, today it is 78 degrees and like yesterday it feels more like 85-90 with the humidity. I can only imagine what it feels like in the hottest month of the year. The course is beautiful and has iguanas, chickens, and turtles everywhere. It is the only golf course in Key West (except for one 9-hole course on a military base) so I played it again today. This is an 18-hole golf course that does not accept reservations for 9 holes only, so I played the full 36 holes here back-to-back.

First Impressions:
The club house offers everything you could expect, and the restaurant is big with a nice-looking covered porch that has outdoor seating overlooking the putting practice area. At hole #8 you can call ahead to order food, and it will be ready to pick up as you come around to play hole #10. The staff are very helpful and will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a great experience. I met Justin Smoot and Colin Fries; both are assistant golf professionals. They set me up to play with 3 other golfers and we went out an enjoyed a great day of golf.
About the course:
The course is beautiful anywhere you look, and it is very well maintained. There are plenty of water and sand traps to challenge your skills and I was challenged by a few of those bunkers. I think I hit one or two more of them than I did yesterday. Again, like yesterday I managed to avoid the water and finished the game with zero balls lost. The putting practice area is great, but the driving range is not full length. This is one of the highest priced courses I have played so far but considering the beauty of it all and the overall atmosphere of Key West Florida, I consider it worthwhile.
About Our Game:
I arrived early to have time to check things out before my T-time. I was teamed up with 3 other golfers and we met up in the club house for introductions.
Brad
Bob
Mark
Mark and Bob are from Pennsylvania and Brad is a local now living here at Key West. Mark is in the pizza business with his wife and so we talked a lot about good pizza. If your ever in the Pittsburgh area check out Phillifpi’s Pizzeria and Mark will show and tell you all about his special recipe pizza. Brad is in the process of moving closer to this golf course and planning to become a member. Wow! How special is that? As usual, I kept track of pars and birdies for all and full score for me.
Results:
Brad 1-Par 0-birdie
Mark 2-Par 0-birdie
Bob 0-Par 0-birdie
Tony 2-Par 0-birdie
There were no birdies scored by any of us and Mark and I tied for the par contest with 2 pars each. Bob did not make any pars but he played a pretty good game overall. Brad had some difficulties with his T-shots and probably lost more golf balls that day than the total number of all other lost balls on the course for the day. Sorry Brad, I know it was frustrating. However, once he was off the tee and in play, he was making some good shots. These guys were a lot of fun to play with, and they kept the game fun and interesting all day.
My Favorite Hole:
Like yesterday I will claim hole #8 (par 3) as my favorite hole. Only this time I played the hole much better and got a bogey (4) instead of a triple bogey (6). I made it over the massive field of mangroves and landed on the far back side of the green. I missed a short putt that would have been par but I was happy to finish this hole with a bogey.
