The Course
Tri City Golf Club – The Lakes Course (9 holes)

First Impressions:
It just seems to me that it is nearly impossible to go anywhere in Tennessee and not be wowed by the scenery. This golf course is no exception to that. Just look at the picture (attached) called view from the green. This is just one view of many like that. The whole course is well maintained and as you drive down the cart paths you can’t help but be impressed with the views and condition of this course.
Eddie Brown is the General Manager and head golf professional. Eddie has been very helpful in accommodating me with my goal of golfing the USA. The plan to connect with a junior golfer for this event didn’t work out but I did at least get to play with 2 fine senior gentleman.
My golf partners:
9 holes
Jerry age 70
Pete age 72
These two guys have been friends for most of their lives and like to get out and golf as often as they can.
Pete was the star of the day finishing the 9 holes with a score of 40. Jerry finished with 42, and I tied with him also with a 42. Pete and Jerry know the course pretty well and filled me in with tips for each hole. Getting information for each golf hole was great and helpful for me but I never expected to get so much bonus information and education on where to go and what to see in this Virginia / Tennessee area. This was better than reading a dozen or more local travel magazines. They know a lot about almost everything around here and I took a note or two on some of it to explore later.
We had a great day of golf with some clouds threatening rain but we finished with no rain at all. Pete and Jerry are just two nice guys that are the type you can hang out with all day.
About my Game:
Today was a much better game for me. 40-45 is more like what I am used to scoring for 9 holes so finishing with a 42 was nice. I had mostly all good controlled drives without going way off the fairways. I had 3 pars and only one double bogie. On the last hole I made a good chip up on to the green and putted it in for par. That’s always nice when you can par the last hole.
My favorite hole:
I liked the #6 par 5 because there is a hill on the right side that if you can hit it to that hill, it will have a nice roll down and funnel to about the middle of the fairway. I did exactly that. I was on the green in regulation but then 3 putted for a bogie.
A little more about this course:
Tri City Golf Club has three 9-hole courses. They call them “Pines” “Woods” and “Lakes”. I played the Lakes for the 9 holes. However, if you want to go 18 you can play Pines/Lakes, Lakes/Woods, or Woods/Pines. The choices are one of the nice things about this course and having that verity is special. If I lived anywhere near-by I would definitely be here a lot. They have a very neat club house also that includes a pool table. The staff is super friendly and this is a great place to come even if you just want to spend some time practicing putting on the super nice practice putting green they have. That’s where I should be spending some extra time.
