Claremont Golf Club in the Bethany area has been a favorite destination of Portland golfers for many years because of its well-groomed fairways and greens and its outstanding pace of play. A round here is just plain fun and affordable for everyone.
Claremont Golf Club is as about as nice as it gets for a 9-hole course. It has a bit of everything and is well maintained. I like it so much I joined the Links Men’s Club here. The course and people are great. If you can play here be sure to mention this blog and my name to Anthony in the club house. He will treat you right.
My favorite hole for this game is #8 par 3 over the water. See the picture I posted (at the bottom) where I got a birdie here. I played this hole lots of times and have maybe 3 birdies here. If you overshoot the green there is a sand trap that might save your ball from leaving the course and going into a street. If you undershoot it the water will stop you from reaching the green. It’s a tricky hole but lots of fun.
Another favorite was hole #5 par 4. I overshot the green from out of the sand trap on this one. However, then I putted from off the edge of the green to in the hole and ended up with a bogie.
My most challenging hole was hole #6 which is a straight par 4 with some water on the right and trees and a wall on the left. If you can pull off a good T-shot here you can make birdie on this. That was not my fate today when I went in the water. I was lucky to make a good putt that got me out of there with a double bogie. It was raining at that time so I will let that be my excuse for that.
This concluded my 2nd game and 27 holes for the State of Oregon. I am looking forward to the next State which I think will be Washington.
